What ever did we do in the olden days when we went to a restaurant with our parents? How did our parents maintain their sanity? Oh I bet they were dreaming, wishing, hoping, that someone would invent a hand held gaming device that would suck us in for an hour or two so they could have uninterrupted chat time.
It's a safe bet to say that the term OMG! was far from their lips.
However, it might be safe to say that slurping water into a straw and then spitting it at your table buddy was a regular table activity back then. And the scolding probably sounded the same..."Knock that off boys! Swallow it or else!"
(Note the smirk on one of those faces.)
I am also going to take a wild guess that the Pizookie had not yet been marketed for restaurant enjoyment. (I'm sure the word was probably even banned in some circles. Though after eating one myself I would like to ban it from my circle. Never mind the term, that thing is sinful. This one below was a free birthday size, mine was the real deal, triple the size, and triple the chocolate. OMG!)
Though we can all agree that the restaurant pastime of digging into our mother's purse and borrowing her hollywoods is one activity that has stood the test of time.
And sharing. Yes sharing too. Because it is one timeless restaurant activity that all our parents encouraged...and not just at the restaurant. It is certainly something that made our parents smile (caused an exhale of relief) because it was the one activity that made their meal enjoyable...actually kind of fun.
Have a fabulous Wednesday! xoxo
