adding to my growing list of future Olympic sports...

I took these photos last week when I was toting around my old camera. (I say this because while I was taking them I lamented not having my fast lens and a camera that I didn't have to correct the color balance in post editing.) We went to a park with some friends and the kids loved the big slides. They were practicing their own form of luging (is that spelled right?) on pieces of worn wax paper, you know, too make their bums a little speedier as they rocketed down the slide. (Yes, wax paper. You can't see it because they are sitting on it.)

It was some serious Olympic sliding. (Add it to the other Olympic sport I wrote about in this post.) If you weren't careful, you would find yourself shot off the end of the slide like a canon ball and land in a heap of tan bark at the end. So of course my son thought going head first would be the safest choice for a sliding position. He's super smart, but sometimes lacks in the logic department. Yep, he's a boy. (See the bits of wax paper down at the bottom in the tan bark?)

And then when they grew tired of that they all decided to climb the tallest tree in the park.
That's my son up at the top waving along with one of my best friends...who led the adventure.
(Crazy woman.)

The best part of the day was when we metup with another mutual friend whom I personally had not seen in almost twenty years. She met my kids and we talked some camera talk and I lusted after her iPhone and her camera apps that she had on it. She turned the camera on me and my buddy and snapped off some fun pics, one of which I am posting below because it is a cool picture--even though I am wearing my hubby's sweatshirt and I hadn't washed my hair in a while and am wearing no make- up, blah blah blah--and because I am rarely ever on the other side of the lens.

I am killing myself for not even getting one picture of her but its fun to know that she took this picture of me and my bud. She is a budding photog herself and has a great, funky eye for capturing life and details. She has her own blog where she posts her pictures and writes a bit about life in the Santa Monica "burbs". Someday I think she just might find her work hanging in a hip little art gallery in L.A. and I will say "I knew her when she was just shooting on her iPhone...". Go visit her over at her blog (click here) and give her some "comment love" and then you can all agree with me that I need an iPhone, just for the happy little camera and the fun apps.

Hope you are having a good weekend!
xoxo
