(I feel like I'm on a theme roll here. Yesterday's post, now today:
"Window dwellers" comes to mind. Are you feelin' it Peeps?)
"Window dwellers" comes to mind. Are you feelin' it Peeps?)
We spent a Saturday afternoon/evening with some sweet friends up in the mountains near our house. After a nature walk with Ranger Rich (yes, Rich, not Rick) we drove down the road to explore the ruins of summer estate that was built back in the 1800's. I about died with the photo possibilities and vowed to come back because we did not stay long: mosquitoes. At least that is what the other adults thought they were. I can live in a box full of them and never get bit, (yes I'm awesome that way) so I could have stayed all day. So the following are the few snap shots of our time at the ruins followed by a few of our time on the nature walk.
Below: my beautiful Bean in the window.
(Seriously, can you see a wedding shoot here?! The stone and the moss and the walls, and steps...this location alone might turn me into a wedding photographer...like in a million years.)
Some scenes from our nature walk...
Ranger Rich was a little talky talky but we learned a lot: you can eat the Miner's Lettuce (cause the miners did) and a Madrone tree's inner bark is cold to the touch (in case you need to cool off). So refreshing! So good to know!
Some kids actually liked listening to RR. My son, on the other hand, did not.
"He went on and on and on mom...I just wanted to walk. We did more listening than walking!"
(Why is it that when you want them to walk they complain they just want to sit and rest and then when you want them to listen they complain they just want to get up and run? Will I ever win?)
But apparently all that "walking" tired the Bean. She boarded the Daddy Tram.
Then we went back to our friend's house and had a wonderful dinner and a glass of wine and THEN had smores for dessert. But not just any old smores. They were smores made with...wait for it... PEEPS...green bunny Peeps. A few weeks ago I made some comment on Facebook about tossing left over Easter candy and a friend of mine commented on how making smores with Peeps was, in his words, a "near religious experience". So we tried it this night. People, friends, blogging world...it was a near religious experience. We lightly roasted them over the open flames until they caramelized and then squished them between TJoes chunky graham crackers and a slightly melted piece of chocolate. I will never ever throw a disgusted look at an Easter Peep again. I will never ever bypass them in the post-Easter clearance aisle again. I will sing their praises in a smore forevermore. And that is saying a lot because before that moment I was an avid Peep hater and a fair weather friend to a smore. No more!
Maybe it was because we had some campfire singing with a little tambourine on the side...or maybe it was the amazing drum stick solo...or maybe it was because Bean's shirt exactly matched the green bunny Peeps...or maybe it was because we were with sweet sweet friends...or maybe it was all those things (and the wine) that made us sing the Peep praises. Who cares, the Peeps rocked. And they were a perfect ending to a great day.
Anybody else ever had a Peep smore? Show the Peeps some love and sing their praises with me!

(btw - looking forward to more photos from this location; looks really promising!)
I smiled through this entire post, all the way down to the green peeps. Love the pic of your Bean sitting in the window. What a gorgeous location!
And you never get bit by mosquitoes? You are SO lucky! After a good rain here Sunday night they are out in full force. They seem to love me, I'd like to think it's because I'm so sweet, but the big welts I sometimes get from them aren't so sweet!
So happy you had a fun weekend.
Ok, thanks girl... made me cry! Your beautiful pictures and that song....WWWHHHHYYY do you do that? still crying, can't see my keyboard haha. Thank you for sharing your awesome gorgeous pictures and moments with us. You have got to teach me how you do it! Keep um coming...
